The Final ‘Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ Trailer Will Blow Your Mind

The premiere of the long-awaited prequel series to 1982’s The Dark Crystal is almost here, so to push our excitement beyond normal human levels, the series has released one final trailer… and it’s the most epic one yet.

The new trailer gives us a better look at what we can expect from the new series, and it’s pretty astounding. Displaying a combination of breathtaking beauty, outstanding action, and magical puppetry, the series looks simply unlike anything we’ve seen before. It even, dare we say, looks more impressive than the original film, and the original film was extraordinary. There’s even some sweet ’80s synth music to put you in the proper nostalgic mood, which is a nice touch. Check it out in all its glory below.

The plot of the series, which takes place years before the events of the movie, follows three Gelfling as they lead a resistance against the Skeksis after learning that the evil creatures have corrupted the powerful Crystal of Truth in order to bring about “The Darkening.” The series’ cast is also one of the best we’ve seen for any TV series, with the likes of Mark Hamill, Sigourney Weaver, Alicia Vikander, Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nathalie Emmanuel, Helena Bonham Carter, Simon Pegg, Andy Samberg, among many other stars, all lending their voices to the project. Jim Henson would surely be proud.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance will premiere on Netflix on Aug. 30.
