You already know that COMET is the best place to find science-fiction on television, whether it’s 1950s B movies, 1980s cult classics, or groundbreaking TV shows. And one of the jewels in COMET’s crown is the Stargate franchise, with the network currently airing Stargate SG-1 — at one point the longest-running sci-fi series in U.S. history — twice a day during the week.
This weekend, COMET is celebrating the Stargate franchise’s matriarch, Catherine Langford, by playing a special marathon of Catherine-related SG-1 episodes right alongside an exclusive behind the scenes special from Stargate Origins and Stargate Command.
The special, Stargate Origins: Behind the Gate, takes a look at the return of Stargate earlier this year in the form of the new series Stargate Origins, with behind the scenes footage and interviews. Stargate Origins, which is available exclusively on Stargate Command, shows the early adventures of Catherine Langford, who first appeared in the original Stargate film as the daughter of the man who discovered the Stargate buried in the Egyptian desert in 1928, and who eventually saw it opened in the ’90s. The series takes place in the late 1930s and features the first-ever trip through the Stargate post-discovery, as Catherine attempts to rescue her father after he’s kidnapped by Nazis and taken on an intergalactic adventure (yes, you read that right).
Behind the Gate is premiering on COMET on Sunday, July 1, where it will bookend a marathon of SG-1 episodes that feature Catherine Langford. You can take a look at the full schedule for the day below.
