Even though Bruce Campbell officially retired from his role of Ash Williams in April, it looks like the actor isn’t done with the Evil Dead franchise just yet.
After stating his interest in seeing the franchise continue on without him on Twitter last week, the nearly 60-year-old actor is now implying that he actually will be involved with some kind of future Evil Dead incarnation. After being asked on Twitter if he would perhaps be interested in voicing or providing motion capture for Ash in an Evil Dead video game, Campbell gave an answer that no one expected, basically stating that he is involved with some kind of Evil Dead media already in the works. “Fans are wonderfully nit-picky,” Campbell tweeted in response to the video game question from journalist Susan Leighton. “I can’t talk particulars yet, but I think fans will dig the upcoming incarnations.”

So what does this mean, exactly? Is Campbell providing the motion capture and/or voice of Ash in a new Evil Dead game, or is there some other unknown project related to the franchise? Is he only referring to behind-the-scenes work, or will Ash really be making a return so soon after his retirement? Campbell has since tweeted a number of times, but he has not addressed what he meant when he said “upcoming incarnations.”
Whatever he’s talking about, it really sounds like Bruce Campbell isn’t quite done with Evil Dead yet, so we recommend paying very close attention to his Twitter account over the next few weeks.
