The Trailer for the New ‘Children of the Corn’ Movie Will Make You Scared of Kids Again

With Stephen King properties experiencing a renewed interest level thanks to the insane success of It, now seems like the perfect time for the longest-running King franchise to release its next installment. We’re talking of course about Children of the Corn, which has been an ongoing movie franchise since the debut film way back in 1984, and is remarkably gearing up to release the tenth film in the series.

It’s been seven years since the last film in the franchise, but the wait is almost over. Children of the Corn: Runaway has just announced its release date, and it’s coming far sooner than expected, hitting digital and Blu-ray on March 13, 2018. The new film centers on a woman named Ruth who grew up in the Children of the Corn cult but escaped when she became pregnant. Ten years later, she worries that her past may be catching up to her as it appears the cult may be after her son.

Along with the release date announcement, Lionsgate and Dimension Films have also released the first trailer for the film, and it looks remarkably scary and well done. The Children of the Corn movies haven’t exactly been known for their quality, but this newest effort looks like it’s taking full advantage of its opportunity to capitalize on King’s current popularity by producing a serious horror film. Check it out below, and just try not to get creeped out by the unsettling kids and spooky imagery.
