The New ‘It’ Trailer Features More Clowns and Nightmare Fuel Than We Can Handle

Warner Bros. has just unleashed their newest It trailer ahead of the movie’s September 8 release, and it’s the most intense look at the film yet.

While the trailer does feature lots of footage we’ve seen before — like dead Georgie appearing to Bill in his basement and the Losers’ Club enjoying a carefree swim before their world goes to hell — most of the scenes are new. We get to see switchblade-carrying bullies (like any good ’80s movie should have); Pennywise confronting Beverly in her bedroom, and a creepy old-timey drawing that shows Pennywise has been haunting Derry for hundreds of years. But the most intriguing and perhaps scariest scene involves several clowns in addition to Pennywise.

In what may or may not be a dream sequence, we see Richie (Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard) enter what looks like an abandoned church that is filled with creepy-looking clowns. As he makes his way down the aisle, one turns to look at him, suggesting they’re not simply mannequins. At the end of the aisle is of course Pennywise, who lunges forth from a lectern, baring sharp teeth and moving impossibly fast. It’s pure nightmare fuel.

Everything we’re seeing from this movie is getting us more and more excited, so September 8 had better just hurry and and get here already.
