Social media has allowed folks to announce major life events in just about any way they want, but while most people settle for simply posting a picture of a ring or an ultrasound, fans of sci-fi and fantasy always seem to find the most creative way to enrich our newsfeeds. Take the Youtuber Nokem, for example. Their channel normally plays host to clips from video games, but earlier this month a new video was uploaded with the title ‘We Have An Announcement’. What unfolded was one of the most brilliantly nerdy pregnancy announcements we’ve ever seen.
The footage featured in the video was from a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode titled Galaxy’s Child, which is appropriate given its usage in this situation. The clip sees Picard and crew happening across a young alien lifeform that they have mistakenly orphaned. Instead of a bizarre alien appearing on the screen, the Enterprise crew is greeted with the ultrasound of little baby Goodwin, who we eventually learn is due in October 2017. If only more people were this creative, we might be inclined to peruse Facebook a little more often!
