Production on Shane Black’s The Predator is officially underway. Black took to Twitter to announce the news, revealing a few exciting details about the highly-anticipated movie in the process.
For fans of the Predator movies, a key element is the franchise’s bloody, no-holds-barred attitude to horror and violence. There was a concern that this latest movie would become the first in the Predator series (besides AVP) to settle for a PG-13 rating, but Black allayed those fears in his own special way.
And, just to be clear… PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed… a lot.

Production on creating this bloody, R-rated havoc got underway in Vancouver this week, giving Black the chance to reveal the movie’s insanely talented cast, in costume, for the first time.
From left to right, here’s the cast (with Shane Black in the front row):
Sterling K. Brown (This is Us), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele).
While details on the movie have been kept a closely guarded secret, Boyd Holbrook recently made an interesting point in suggesting that this was not actually a sequel, but something entirely different.
“I’m currently working on Predator, it’s not a sequel,” Holbrook told We Got This Covered. “Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of ‘Predator’ [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we’re talking about today, and rooted in something real. It’s real fresh. I don’t think you’re going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It’s horror, science-fiction and a western.”
Oh, and if you weren’t convinced by the fact that Olivia Munn is in the line-up with a bunch of dudes with guns, Black has a special word for you:
