The Final ‘Fantasy Island’ Trailer Warns You to Be Careful What You Wish for

The upcoming Fantasy Island reboot film has released its final trailer, and it really drives home the point that this is not the Fantasy Island you remember.

While the original series had a certain undercurrent of darkness, it never fully gave in to its more nefarious leanings. The new film adaptation, on the other hand, is a full-on horror movie from Blumhouse Productions, the studio behind such modern horror franchises Insidious, The Purge, and Paranormal Activity. In the film, like in the show, Fantasy Island is a magical place where people pay to go in order to have their dreams fulfilled. But unlike the series, every wish comes with a horrible unintended consequence. In the latest trailer, we see murders, a creepy doppelganger, and a nosebleed-inflicting ghost child. There’s also the insinuation that everyone has been brought to the island for some hidden reason, and we’re guessing it’s not just so they can hear Tattoo enthusiastically yell “De plane! De plane!” Check it out below.

Judging from this trailer, it looks like the movie is going to rely on a mix of jump scares, body horror, and psychological terror, potentially making it one of the most frightening films of the year. We’ll find out when Fantasy Island starts granting wishes in theaters this Valentine’s Day.
