Here’s Your First Look at the ‘Amazing Stories’ Reboot

The Outer Limits has been rebooted previously, and The Twilight Zone is currently in its fourth iteration, so it was only a matter of time before that other classic sci-fi anthology series — Amazing Stories — underwent the revival treatment. Now, we’re getting our first look at the upcoming Amazing Stories reboot, and it’s going to give you some major ’80s flashbacks.

The original series debuted on NBC in 1985 and lasted for two seasons. It was created by Steven Spielberg, who also happens to be behind the new reboot, which will stream on Apple TV+. With the king of blockbusters once again at the helm, fans of the series should probably expect the series to have a tone that’s pretty similar to the original, with some likely updates to give it a more modern feel. One of the debut episodes is titled “The Rift,” and while Apple didn’t reveal any plot details about the episode, it did release one very intriguing image.

Wow. If we didn’t know that Spielberg was behind this, we’d definitely assume that this was someone ripping off the director. Up front we’ve got a young kid and his mom, behind them we see military personnel and possibly scientists, and they’re all looking up at something glowing in the sky. If this just doesn’t scream “1980s Amblin Entertainment” at you, then you’ve probably never seen a Spielberg movie. For real, this looks like it could’ve been a deleted scene from E.T., which suggests to us that fans of classic Spielberg are going to be very, very happy with this new project.

We’ll find out if our theory is correct when Amazing Stories premieres on Apple TV+ on March 6.
