VFX Video Sees John Wick Fighting with Lightsabers

The Keanu Reeves character John Wick is a pretty unstoppable force, but you know what would make him even more unstoppable? The force. As in THE force. The folks over at YouTube channel VFX Immersion apparently thought the same thing, as they have made an awesome video that inserts lightsabers into a pair of John Wick fight scenes. The result is the ridiculously over-the-top action movie you’ve been looking for.

The roughly four-minute clip alters two scenes from John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, outfitting both with a heavy dose of Star Wars weaponry. The first scene is the more impressive of the two, as it manages to convincingly swap out both swords and guns for lightsabers in the film’s already-incredible motorcycle chase/fight sequence. Watching this new version will leave you convinced that the scene always had lightsabers in it. The second scene is the climactic showdown between Wick and the villainous Zero, and while it’s certainly simpler since it’s just a swordfight with the swords replaced with lightsabers, it’s still remarkably smooth and well-done. Check it out below.

ImmersionVFX has a whole series of similar videos where they insert lightsabers into the fight scenes of other films and TV shows, including Thor: Ragnarok, Game of Thrones, The Hobbit, Daredevil, Wonder Woman, and — George Lucas must love this — Indiana Jones.

As for John Wick, the character is set to return to the big screen in John Wick 4 on May 21, 2021 — though it will probably be sans lightsaber.
