The New Trailer for ‘Lost in Space’ Season 2 Is Basically ‘The Search for Robot’

While somehow managing to fly under the radar, season 1 of Netflix’s Lost in Space reboot was pretty great. The reimagining gave the classic ’60s series about a wayward spacefaring family a thoroughly modern update, with a bona fide sci-fi storyline, solid characters, and outstanding special effects. The final trailer has just been released for the upcoming second season, and we’re happy to say that it doesn’t look like there will be any sophomore slump for this hidden gem.

The main throughline for the new season is the Robinson family’s search for their missing Robot, who became separated from them toward the end of season one. Their search leads them to discover a lot of other robots, but these machines aren’t quite as amicable as their missing metal friend. In fact, they’re downright terrifying. Danger Will Robinson, indeed! Here’s the official synopsis for the new season:

There’s more danger — and adventure — ahead for the Robinson family! With the Jupiter 2 stranded on a mysterious ocean planet without their beloved Robot, the Robinsons must work together, alongside the mischievous and manipulative Dr. Smith and the always charming Don West, to make it back to the Resolute and reunite with the other colonists. But they quickly find all is not as it seems. A series of incredible new threats and unexpected discoveries emerge as they look for the key to finding Robot and safe passage to Alpha Centauri. They will stop at nothing to keep their family safe… survival is a Robinson specialty after all.

Lost in Space season 2 will find its way to Netflix on Christmas Eve.
