Here’s Your First Look at ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’

It’s really happening. The first images have been released from Bill & Ted Face the Music, and the movie is looking like it’s going to be most excellent.

Three new photos have been released from the upcoming third Bill & Ted movie, and they are just bursting with nostalgia. The pictures, which were first unveiled by Entertainment Weekly, reveal Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reprising their iconic roles for the first time since 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, and boy is it good to see them. Also back in a second photo is William Sadler, who is reprising his role of Death from Bogus Journey. The third photo marks the debut of our protagonists’ daughters, Bill’s daughter Thea (Samara Weaving) and Ted’s daughter Billie (Brigette Lundy-Paine). The girls are joined in their appearance by rapper Kid Cudi, who plays himself in the film. You can take a look at all three photos below.

Writer Chris Matheson and director Dean Parisot also shared some more details about the film’s plot with EW, and it sounds like the movie will be keeping the feel of a classic Bill & Ted adventure. “[Bill & Ted] were told when they were teenagers that they were going to save reality (with their music), and they’ve been working on it the whole time,” Matheson said. “Now an emissary from the future comes and says, ‘You’ve got to do it right now. We’ve got literally 80 minutes or all of reality will come to an end.'” The writer also revealed the role the pair’s daughters will play in the story. “The daughters really love their dads’ music and want to help them,” he said.

As for Parisot, the Galaxy Quest director discussed the roles of Kid Cudi and Death, and it sounds like both characters should have pretty interesting arcs. “[Kid Cudi] plays Kid Cudi,” Parisot said. “He gets mysteriously thrown around through various times, because all time and space is coming unglued … Death was in the band in the second film. Things didn’t go all that well. But I’ll leave it at that!”

Will the Wyld Stallyns manage to come up with a song that saves the world in only 80 minutes?! We’ll find out when Bill & Ted Face the Music hits theaters on Aug. 21, 2020.
