IT chapter 2

‘It: Chapter Two’s New Trailer Pits the Now-Adult Losers’ Club Against Pennywise

The Losers’ Club may have defeated the evil clown Pennywise in 2017’s It, but as anyone who’s read Stephen King’s original novel knows, that’s not where the story ends.

It: Chapter Two unveiled a brand new trailer in time for Comic-Con, and it features the now-adult Losers’ Club reuniting to deal with Pennywise’s return to Derry 27 years after the events of the original film. Compared to the film’s previous trailer, which highlighted just a single scene from the film, the new one shows off much, much more. There’s loads of new footage, as well as our first looks at James McAvoy as Bill, Bill Hader as Richie, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, and more. It’s also worth noting that, based on the trailer, this film looks considerably scarier than its predecessor, which had more of a fun genre vibe than outright horror. Director Andy Muschietti appears to be going all-in when it comes to the horror of the sequel, which is sure to please fans of King’s original work.

Returning for the film are Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise — who appears to has upped his game even more from his outstanding performance in the first film — and all of the child actors that made up the Losers’ Club in the original. Rather than focusing entirely on the adults, the film will also contain flashbacks that feature the Losers as kids.

It: Chapter Two will float into theaters on Sept. 6.
