Ever Wonder What a ‘Starship Troopers’ Western Would Look Like?

One great thing about the internet is it gives us inventive new ways to enjoy the things we love. For instance, we never would have thought to crossover Starship Troopers with a western, yet some intrepid fan has done just that — and posted the result online for all to enjoy.

Filmmaker Fabrice Mathieu has created a mashup of the classic ’90s sci-fi flick and a number of iconic westerns in a five minute short film called Far Alamo. The film, which sort of has a loose plot, features an all-star team of western icons — like John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, James Coburn, Steve McQueen, and Henry Fonda — on loan from hits like A Fistful of Dollars, The Magnificent Seven, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, and of course, The Alamo. Like in a typical western, these cowboys must defend their fortress from some roughneck invaders, but in this case, the invaders are of the outer space variety.

Once the bugs descend on the Alamo, which happens immediately, all hell breaks loose and it’s cowboys against aliens in a star-studded shootout the likes of which this galaxy’s never seen before. So who comes out on top? You’re just going to have to watch the video below to find out.
