First Photo of David Harbour as Hellboy Revealed

We initially weren’t crazy about the idea of Hellboy getting a reboot… until we heard that Stranger Things‘ David Harbour would be starring as the demonic superhero, then we became ecstatic. Now the first image of Harbour as Hellboy has been released, and we can definitely say we were right to get excited.

In the pic put out by Lionsgate, Harbour looks far more menacing and less cartoony than Ron Perlman’s Hellboy. He’s quite a bit more jacked and covered in battle scars, while his red color appears more natural. His hair is longer, his face angrier and more demonic, and his Fist of Doom is much sleeker and more dangerous-looking. Overall, we’re definitely digging the look for sure.

For comparative purposes, here’s how Perlman looked in the role. As you can see, it’s a pretty big contrast.

Now, which one of these guys would you least want to mess with? We’re thinking Harbour. The new bulked-up version of the hero will arrive in theaters in 2018, and the plan is for the film to have an R-rating, unlike the previous two Hellboy movies. And given Harbour’s intense and frightening appearance as the character, we’re starting to see why.
