Watch Sigourney Weaver Kick Some Alien Butt in Neill Blomkamp’s New Sci-Fi Short

When we were told that Neill Blomkamp’s plans to bring Sigourney Weaver back to the Alien franchise were all but over, we sci-fi fans thought that our hopes of seeing the pair teaming up on an exciting sci-fi project were over. Thankfully, though, Neill Blomkamp had an ace up his sleeve…..

As we wrote last month, Blomkamp has created Oats Studios, a production house dedicated to creating original sci-fi stories made specifically for viewing online. When Blomkamp released a trailer for the studio’s first project, we caught a brief glimpse of Weaver in action, but we had no idea how heavy her involvement would be in this small but powerful production. Well, now we’ve got our answer because the entire 20-minute movie has come online and it features Weaver doing what she does best: kicking alien butt.

Set in the year 2020, Rakka sees an alien species enslaving humanity after a devastating attack. Taking the interesting move of telling the story from multiple viewpoints, Rakka shows us everything from the brutal ways the aliens have enslaved Earth’s population to a human resistance movement against the aliens’ plans to terraform the planet. The end product really is quite spectacular. Best of all, it’s available to watch completely for free in the Youtube player below. If you want to dig a bit deeper into the story, you can spend a few dollars on Steam to get exclusive bonus items related to the production.
