Godzilla Will Battle Some Classic Villains In Its Next Movie

We all know that Godzilla is set to throw down with King Kong in a few years, but before that happens, the king of monsters still has a second solo movie to get through. Godzilla 2, is scheduled to hit theaters in 2019, and a press release from the studio has just given us three BIG reasons why kaiju fans should start getting very excited.

Michael Dougherty’s movie will be titled Godzilla: King of Monsters, which gains new meaning after Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures confirmed that the titular beast will be battling no fewer than three classic Godzilla monsters when the movie hits theaters in the spring of 2019. Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah are all set to feature in the movie, giving Godzilla a triple-threat of winged beasts trying to deliver destruction from above.

Despite these big name baddies making an appearance, it’s expected that the 2019 sequel will actually focus on the crypto-zoological agency, Monarch, who will be put into action as the trio of winged kaiju do battle with Godzilla for control of Earth.

Rodan and Mothra are both popular in their own right, but it’s the addition of the three-headed King-Ghidorah that will have Godzilla fans most excited. This will be the beast’s first big screen appearance since 2001, and it feels like a perfect way to up the ante before the highly-anticipated clash of Godzilla and King Kong in a few years’ time.

Featuring an all-star cast that includes Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things, Godzilla: King of Monsters is slated for release on March 22nd, 2019.
