New MST3K

The New ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Trailer Is Here

The wait is over! The first trailer for Netflix’s reboot of Mystery Science Theater 3000 is here, and if you were afraid the new series would be significantly changing the cult favorite’s tried and true formula, then I’ve got some good news for you.

The trailer, which showcases new stars Jonah Ray, Felicia Day, and Patton Oswalt — along with old favorite Mary Jo Pehl — is decidedly cheesy and low budget in appearance. There’s no modern day CGI or flashy effects to distract from the jokes, which should please longtime fans of the humble original series. We get a little bit of interplay between the ‘bots and new host Jonah in the new Satellite of Love, and even a preview of one of the films that’s going to be featured: Reptilicus, a 1961 Danish Godzilla ripoff that I’m honestly surprised the show hasn’t featured before in its previous iterations.

So check out the trailer below for your first look at the new MST3K, and get ready for all 12 episodes to hit Netflix on April 14. And don’t forget, you can catch back-to-back classic episodes of MST3K every Sunday night at 8/7C, only on COMET.
