We didn’t ask for this movie, but that’s not going to stop us from getting ridiculously excited every time we see something new from it.
Our first look at the cast of Disney and Lucasfilm’s untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie was released today, giving us a chance to return to the cockpit of one of science fiction’s most iconic spacecraft, the Millennium Falcon.

Here’s exactly who is in the image, from left to right:
Woody Harrelson (Garris Shrike), co-director Chris Miller, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Emilia Clarke, co-director Phil Lord, Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.
The image was released by the studio to celebrate the fact that cameras started rolling on the project this week, and with the announcement came a few interesting details about the movie. The release confirmed that Thandie Newton is also involved in the project, while Waller-Bridge’s presence in the photo confirms she will also feature.
There had also been some speculation about the movie’s release date. With The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and The Last Jedi all getting December releases, it was thought that the Han Solo movie would do the same. However, this announcement states that the movie is slated for a May 25th 2018 release date. That means, with the release of The Last Jedi this December, we’ll be getting two Star Wars movies in the space of six months for the first time ever.
We can probably expect to learn more about what’s in store for young Han, Lando, and Chewie, at this year’s Star Wars Celebration event in April.
