The Cast for Shane Black’s The Predator is Kind of Insane

After months, if not years of anticipation, Shane Black’s Predator movie is fast becoming a reality. Production on the latest movie in the Predator franchise is scheduled to kick off next month, and Shane Black’s team have been busy making a host of additions to the movie’s cast.

The most recent of these casting announcements came this week when it was revealed Jacob Tremblay, that loveable little scrap from Room, was joining the project. Tremblay’s appointment continues a trend that is fast making The Predator‘s cast one of the most interesting mixes of talent in the industry.

Tremblay joins Thomas Jane (The Expanse) who is in talks for a role, along with confirmed stars Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), and Keegan Michael-Key (Key and Peele, Keanu). That’s a helluva spread of acting styles right there, especially given we’ve got a highly trained and ruthless alien to throw into the mix as well.

(A teaser for The Predator posted by Shane Black last year.)

Though the cast is starting to take shape, there’s still a lot of ambiguity surrounding The Predator‘s plot. Rumors that the movie would see the iconic alien taking on American suburbia were shot down by Black, but the director has at least revealed that the movie will combine Predator’s traditional horror elements with a healthy dose of comedy, which we assume is where Olivia Munn and Keegan Michael-Key come into their own. Hopefully we’ll start to some plot details once production gets underway in February.

The Predator is released in theaters on February 8th, 2018.
