Browder Gate

Ben Browder is Game for More Stargate, Has Hopes for a Farscape Movie

Ben Browder is a popular guy in the world of sci-fi fandom. After making his name in the genre as John Crichton on Farscape, Browder joined the Stargate SG-1 team for a multi-season and multi-movie run as Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell. These prominent roles in such popular sci-fi franchises have rightly earned Browder a great deal of respect among fans. So, imagine the excitement when the actor/director/writer took part in a Reddit AMA this week?

As one would expect from a Ben Browder ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, many questions centered around Stargate and Farscape, and it didn’t take long before he was asked whether or not he was game for more.

Multiple folks asked Browder what he thought about the prospect of a new Farscape movie being made. Browder’s response might not have been comprehensive, but it wasn’t the flat out “No” we were all expecting.

Here’s what Browder responded with when asked “Is the Farscape movie going to happen in your lifetime?”

“Reasonable question.
Magic eight ball says…
Maybe?”

On the subject of more Stargate, Browder was a little more open….

“Yes I would do more Stargate. I see Chris and Mike and even Rick on occasion here in LA… usually shopping or at an audition. The rest of the cast I google stalk like a normal person.”

If you have a chance, we highly recommend you read the entire AMA for insights into Browder’s career but you can check below for a few of our favorite answers.

Q: What was the worst thing that has ever happened to you on set?

BB: “Ripped my Hamstring… Got Naked… Got fired after a costume fitting before stepping onto set… Got Cancelled…

Farscape getting Cancelled.”

Q: Hi Ben, huge fan of Stargate. What was your favorite episode, and who was your favorite person to work with?

BB: “Final episode of season nine where I got to swing a sword in the mud was the most fun. I really like episodes Heroes pts 1 & 2 though I was not in the series at that time.

Mike… Claudia… Amanda… Chris… Not picking.

Okay… Anyone but Rick. :)”

Q: How did you like working with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill on Doctor Who?

BB: “Those folks are GOLD! Truly nice and Talented. Though hanging out with them was like hanging with a group of very tight Siblings. They knew each other way too well.”

Catch back-to-back episodes of Stargate: Atlantis Mon-Thur at 10pm, and stay tuned for more information on the return of Stargate SG:1 this Spring.
