One of the most openly-mocked blockbusters in recent memory has to be 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film was haphazard and sloppy, if we’re being generous, and was widely ridiculed by critics and fans alike. Now, Kevin Smith is poking some fun at the film in his upcoming film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, as seen in a newly-released clip.
The new film features Jay and Silent Bob learning that Bluntman and Chronic, the superhero movie from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back that’s based on their respective personalities, is getting a gritty reboot wherein the two heroes do battle. In the clip, Jay and Silent Bob are in a theater watching the reboot as Bluntman (Batman Forever‘s Val Kilmer) and Chronic (Supergirl‘s Melissa Benoist) do battle on screen in the most stoner way possible — only for a very different kind of Alfred to show up at the fight’s conclusion.
Jay and Silent Bob seem to unironically dig the reboot, and if we’re being honest, the clip goes mighty easy on Batman v Superman. Seriously, they couldn’t even work in a reference to Martha? Maybe the relative kindness of the clip is due to the fact that Smith’s pal Ben Affleck, who starred in Batman v Superman, also appears in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Smith didn’t want the world to have to go through the whole “Sad Ben Affleck” thing again.
We’re sure the film has lots more surprises in store for when it hits theaters on Oct. 15, so fingers crossed that a Martha scene parody is one of them.
