LEGO Ideas is a program from the famous toymaker that allows everyday people to submit their ideas for new LEGO sets. Since the program’s inception nearly a decade ago, 20 new LEGO sets have been produced, including examples based on Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, and the Women of NASA. Now, two LEGO accomplished fans are hoping to get a Godzilla set produced through the program, but they need your help to do so.
Dave Pickett, who runs the popular LEGO building YouTube channel Brick 101, and Mark Larson, a Project Designer and Project Manager at LEGOLAND Studios, have teamed up to produce this awesome LEGO Godzilla prototype. Their version stands 9 inches tall, measures 17 inches from nose to tail, and consists of around 850 pieces; with an appearance is based on the classic version of the Kaiju from the original 1954 film (no chubby Godzilla here). The set would also include a train for Godzilla to destroy, as well as an atomic flame breath piece. Pickett has put up a video on his channel showing how one would go about building such a monster, and it’s quite the feat of engineering.
In order for LEGO Ideas projects to be considered for production by the company’s executives, they must first gain the support of 10,000 people on the LEGO Ideas website. As of this writing, the LEGO Godzilla set still has a ways to go with just over 600 supporters as of this writing, so head on over to its project page and offer your support to make this set a reality!
