It’s hard to remember a horror movie that has drawn as much buzz as the new It remake. The film’s first trailer shattered the record for most online views in 24 hours, and every new bit of footage is met with rapturous anticipation from fans. So if you’re one of those people who just can’t wait to see Pennywise the clown on the big screen, we’ve got some good news.
A four-minute and thirteen-second sneak peek of the film is set to play in theaters before Annabelle: Creation. The extended look at the film is pretty much guaranteed to show new footage, though it’s anyone’s guess as to what that footage will be. And if you’re thinking you’ll just skip the cinema and catch it online, you’re going to be out of luck, as the footage is expected to remain exclusive to theaters, according to Bloody Disgusting.
This seems like a clever bit of marketing on the part of Warner Bros. It is such a hot property right now that including exclusive footage of it with the Annabelle sequel may entice horror fans who were on the fence about seeing the newest installment of the Conjuring franchise in theaters (the first Annabelle wasn’t exactly well-received by critics, though so far its sequel is faring better). It opens in theaters on September 8, and Annabelle: Creation opens on August 11, meaning you could get a full month’s head start on your It theater content by ponying up for an Annabelle ticket.
If you’re not that desperate to see new It footage but are still curious about the film, then you can check out this new TV spot, which contains a small amount of new (and highly disturbing) footage.
