We all know the Star Trek/Star Wars debate has caused lots of hurt feelings and ended many friendships over the years, but this is the first time we’ve ever heard of the debate turning physical and resulting in an arrest.
Two friends were arguing over which franchise was better in the living room of an Oklahoma City apartment when one of them got fed up with the conversation, telling the other man, “You’re just a trick,” before leaving to go to his room. The other man, 23-year-old Jerome Whyte, followed the man and allegedly shoved him to the ground. The man got back up, said, “You want to replay that?” and was promptly shoved down again. At this point, Whyte allegedly started choking the man, who then pulled out a pocket knife. Whyte released him and went for the knife, accidentally cutting himself and then fleeing.

The victim called the cops and Whyte was arrested on charges of assault and battery (along with marijuana charges and some outstanding warrants) and was booked in an Oklahoma City jail, according to the city’s Fox 25 News. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been revealed which of the men was rooting for Star Wars and which was Team Star Trek, but at the end of the day we can definitively say that neither franchise is worth dying for.
