Zombies, dudes with tigers, and other dudes with barbed wire-wrapped baseball bats: The Walking Dead normally has more than enough weirdness to keep its fans entertained, but now those fans are convinced we can throw UFOs into that mix.
During last Sunday’s episode, most people were busy paying attention to a weird gladiator zombie named Winslow, but a few eagle-eyed viewers spotted something even more bizarre. In the background, just over Andrew Lincoln’s shoulder, a strange object buzzed across the screen in what some believe to be an unnatural fashion.

In just a few hours, close-ups of the ‘UFO’ started to pop up online.

Of course, these strange goings-on weren’t actually taking place behind Rick, it was actually just a rather shoddy piece of green screen. But, that hasn’t stopped people from getting excited about it, and there is the question of how the object was recorded in the first place.
Some have been quick to point out the fact that this could be a case of extreme foreshadowing or just a really silly Easter Egg. Back in the day, creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, once suggested that the zombie apocalypse was actually caused by aliens.
“When I pitched The Walking Dead originally, it was turned down, simply because there had never been a successful zombie book in the history of comics,” said Kirkman. “I wasn’t willing to accept no for an answer. And so I said, ‘Oh, well, I forgot to tell you that this is actually a big setup for an alien invasion.”
Unfortunately, Kirkman eventually revealed that there would be no aliens, so it seems unlikely he had anything to do with this weirdness.
So, what could it be? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Or is it just the start of aliens invading our favorite pieces of pop culture in an attempt to take over our minds?
