Many know Tom Delonge best for his generation-influencing music with Blink 182, but he is a man of many more talents than just music. Delonge is an outspoken advocate for UFO disclosure, has written a series of books on the paranormal, and has worked with NASA and Military officials to try and shed light on what he believes are genuine sightings of alien or top-secret technologies. Delonge’s To the Stars brand has been creating music and writing around these phenomena for some time now, but the musician is about to branch out into film in what is likely to be his most ambitious project yet.
Strange Times will be Delonge’s first big-screen feature, and it’s set to blend a number of his many passions, namely Skateboarding, San Diego, and the paranormal.
“I grew up in Southern California as a disaffected young skateboarder who broke the occasional law or five, and I was always dreaming about the world around me, obsessively looking for the more unusual and imaginative experiences that life has to offer,” said DeLonge via THR. “That’s the inspiration behind Strange Times, which is about the tribe of broken youth and the restless spirit that inspired me to form Blink-182 and seek out adventure.”
There aren’t many details on the plot just yet, but what we do know is that Strange Times will follow a group of San Diego youths who embark on a mission to investigate extreme paranormal activity occurring in their city. The movie shares its name with another of Delonge’s brands, a multimedia project that’s producing a YA book and graphic novel series.
Delonge co-wrote the script with Ben Kull, and he’s set to produce the movie as well as write and perform the soundtrack with his band, Angels and Airwaves. Production is slated to begin this Fall.
