After more than 30 years, Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally getting back to the ‘choppa.
One of Arnold’s best-known roles in his storied film career is that of Dutch, the former Special Forces soldier who was tasked with leading a team of commandos against a deadly alien hunter in Predator. The sci-fi/horror film was one of the biggest box office hits of 1987 and went onto spawn a franchise that includes comic books, video games, a crossover film series with the Alien franchise, and a number of sequels and prequels — with the most recent being 2018’s The Predator. But despite the sustained popularity of the series, Schwarzenegger has never officially reprised his role like we’ve seen him do time and time again in his other iconic sci-fi franchise, Terminator. But that’s about to change, as Arnold is finally back as Dutch in the new video game Predator: Hunting Grounds.
The Austrian Oak recorded voicework for the role, and his likeness is also being brought into the game, as you can see from Arnold’s Instagram post above. And if you’re curious as to why Dutch looks like he’s in his 70s instead of looking like he did in the movie, well, there’s a good reason for that. The game is filling in the gaps of what Dutch has been up to since the original film, which is sure to excite just about every Predator fan in existence. Arnold recorded voiceovers that tell Dutch’s story in his own words, and the story will be available via a free update to the game on May 26. To hear the story, you’ll need to earn a series of voice tapes in the game as you level up, but it’s a small price to pay for finally getting a new Dutch/Predator plotline. A slightly larger price to pay — as in, actual money — will be required for the paid Dowloadable Content (DLC) that will allow you to play the game as Dutch. So if you’ve always dreamed of slathering yourself in mud and hunting Predators as Dutch, you’ll finally get your chance to do just that.
Predator: Hunting Grounds is available now for Playstation 4 and PC, while the Arnold DLC will be available on PS4 starting May 26.
