Haunted house movies aren’t scary. You know what’s scary? Haunted house documentaries. And a new one from Ghost Hunters investigator Steve Gonsalves looks downright terrifying.
The new doc is called The House In Between, and it profiles a most unexpected haunted house. The home doesn’t have some long, grisly history. It was built in the 1990s in Rankin County, Mississippi, and for some reason, it seems to have a ton of paranormal activity attached to it. News stories about the house’s hauntings can be found going back to at least 2011, and a 2015 local news profile spoke to paranormal investigators who claimed to have encountered several different spirits in the house. The new documentary takes into account all of this history, with footage spanning ten years of paranormal investigations at the house. The film’s conclusion? That the home is being used as some sort of spiritual training ground for the afterlife. Now there’s something you don’t hear every day.
The movie’s trailer features just about everything you’d expect from a haunted house, with hidden cameras capturing lights flickering and doors opening and closing by themselves. But the movie isn’t just a fright-fest. It’s also bringing science and philosophy to the table to try and figure out just what is going on in this unassuming Mississippi home. The House In Between arrives on DVD/Blu-ray and digital on May 5, and can be pre-ordered now on iTunes.
