After Westworld‘s disappointing and overly-confusing second season, a recalibration of sorts was needed for the upcoming season 3. And judging from the latest trailer, it looks like that’s exactly what has happened.
The third season of Westworld takes the robot uprising out of the park and into the real world, where Dolores has one thing on her mind: blood. The leader of the hosts is out to start a war against the humans, and she may be recruiting a few of them to her cause (it isn’t 100 percent clear if Aaron Paul’s new character is a human or a host, but he appears to be a working-class human who’s been left behind in the robot-boosted economy). We also learn that Maeve, the other robot uprising leader who has a completely different set of goals than Dolores, has been tasked with tracking down and killing her counterpart, and she’s going full-Terminator to do so. Gone are most of the Western elements that played such a huge role in the first two seasons, as they’ve been replaced by a sleek science-fiction look complete with futuristic cities and Tesla Cybertruck-like cars. Take a look below at the new — and possibly improved — Westworld in the latest season 3 trailer.
Whether this new direction for Westworld will be an improvement or not is yet to be seen, but we’ll begin to find out when the season premieres on HBO on March 15.
