Watch the Creepy & Campy Trailer for Puppet Master Spinoff ‘Blade: The Iron Cross’

Without much fanfare, Puppet Master has become one of the most prolific and longest-running horror franchises around. After the original’s release in 1989, a whopping ten sequels have followed, in addition to the crossover film Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys and the 2018 reboot The Littlest Reich. So it was only a matter of time before the series released its first spinoff, which is now here in the form of Blade: The Iron Cross.

As you likely guessed from the title, the new film is all about the possessed puppet Blade, arguably the best-known character from the series, having appeared in all installments so far. The black-clad puppet with a knife for one hand and a hook for the other has played a major role in most other Puppet Master films, so it makes perfect sense for him to be the subject of the franchise’s first spinoff. In Blade: The Iron Cross, the puppet learns more about his past and goes to war against an evil Nazi scientist. You can read the plot synopsis from Bloody Disgusting below, but it’s safe to say we’ll be rooting for Blade in this battle:

An unspeakable evil from Blade’s past emerges in the form of a murderous Nazi scientist named Dr. Hauser. As Hauser’s heinous crimes are discovered, the psychic war journalist, Elisa Ivanov, awakens Blade, and together the bloody journey of revenge begins.

The first trailer for the film has already been released, and while we don’t expect it to garner any Academy Award nominations, it’s got just the right blend of camp and creepiness to satisfy fans of the franchise.

Blade: The Iron Cross will begin streaming on the Full Moon Features channel this March.
