Roger Corman is unquestionably the king of the cult movie, and now the revolutionary director is finally getting the appreciation he deserves thanks to a new documentary series.
The 13-peart series is called Cult-Tastic: Tales from the Trenches with Roger and Julie Corman, and naturally, it chronicles the outstanding work of Roger Corman and his producer/wife, Julie Corman. The series isn’t some outside look at the Cormans with limited access either, it comes from the legends themselves — offering up the most inside look ever at the King and Queen of B-movies. Over the course of the series, Roger shares his take on the impact his long career has had — discussing the monsters, music, and action from his many films. He also gets into his attitude toward the women in his films, as well as the plethora of famous actors and filmmakers who got their start in his movies, including Jack Nicholson, James Cameron, and Sandra Bullock. And that’s just what’s in the trailer! Here’s the official synopsis:
In the series, the Cormans draw upon their vast filmography and footage from over 130 films spanning seven decades. Within each episode, the legendary filmmakers share insightful stories and defining moments from their movies, recall talent and young filmmakers they fostered, as well as provide behind-the-scenes perspectives on how they produced some of the smallest budget films that went on to achieve box-office gold.
