Three Generations of ‘Star Trek’ Unite for New Horror Film [Trailer]

Three generations of Star Trek personalities have come together for a new film, and they’ve got Hell to pay for it in the first trailer.

Devil’s Revenge is the latest film from director Jared Cohn, who’s known for helming mockbusters like Alien Predator and Atlantic Rim: Resurrection, but it’s the movie’s varied connections to the Final Frontier that should be of great interest to Trekkies. Devil’s Revenge stars William Shatner, who of course portrayed Captain James T. Kirk in The Original Series, and Jeri Ryan, AKA Seven of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager (and the upcoming Picard). Not only that, but according to Bloody Disgusting, the film’s screenplay was written by the late Maurice Hurley, who was credited with penning a dozen episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Despite all that Star Trek pedigree, Devil’s Revenge has nothing to do with space. The movie is about an archaeological cave expedition that discovers a cursed relic and inadvertently opens a portal to Hell itself. In order to close the portal, the archaeologist who made the discovery (Jason Brooks) has to return to the demon-infested cave to destroy the relic. Along the way, he’ll receive some help from Ryan and Shatner’s characters who, as far as we can figure from the trailer, are his wife and father, respectively.

The movie looks pretty fun, and it may even have a few genuine scares to help make it more than just a curious novelty for Star Trek fans. You can find out on Oct. 1 when Devil’s Revenge arrives on VOD.
