Elvira has led quite a life, and even though she isn’t ready to slow down just yet, the Mistress of the Dark is still ready to share the story of her journey so far.
OK, technically it’s not Elvira’s autobiography since she’s a fictional character. Rather, we’re talking about the autobiography of Cassandra Peterson, the comedian who created Elvira and has played her consistently for four decades. In her official newsletter, per Bloody Disgusting, Peterson revealed that the book she’s writing about her life will hit store shelves in time for Halloween of next year, so get ready to add it to your fall 2020 reading list. “I’m busier than ever writing away on my autobiography. I now have a DEAD-line from my publishers so no more messing around,” Peterson said. “My book is due at the end of February so we can have a Halloween 2020 release!”
Just judging from we know about her life so far, Peterson’s book should be a very entertaining read. From having to receive skin grafts as a toddler, working as a go-go dancer as a teen, and becoming a showgirl in Las Vegas to dating Elvis Presley, landing a part in a James Bond movie, and posing for a Tom Waits album cover that she doesn’t remember, Peterson probably has enough material to fill ten books — and that’s just from the part of her life before she even created Elvira in the early ’80s!
Honesty, we’re not sure if we’ve ever looked forward this much to reading a book.
