Remember the Awful 2010 Movie, Skyline? A Sequel is Coming, and It Actually Looks Quite Fun

Back in 2010, The Brothers Strause gave us a sci-fi movie called Skyline, featuring a hum drum alien invasion story and a script so bad it was almost funny. Unsurprisingly, the movie was panned by critics and ridiculed by sci-fi fans, all of which made the news that, all these years later, a sequel to the movie had been commissioned.

Released later this year, Beyond Skyline is written and directed by Liam O’Donnell, the same person who co-wrote the first movie. While that fact might be concerning for anyone who wants this sequel to be a success, there are a few crumbs of comfort to be had. First off, the cast is led by prolific action star, Frank Grillo, who has recently been impressing with his performances in Kingdom. But one cast member does not a movie make, instead, it’s the recently released trailer that’s giving us the most cause for optimism.

Seen below, the trailer starts off slow before diving head on into some classic humans vs. advanced aliens action, all with a beautiful ancient city as its backdrop.

It’s still a mystery how this movie got greenlit, but after seeing the trailer, we’re slightly less shocked than when the project was first announced.
