Just about every Star Wars fan has fantasized about having a drink or two at the Mos Eisley Cantina, and now a new Hollywood bar is offering up the next best thing.
Scum & Villainy Cantina opened up as a temporary pop-up bar on Hollywood Boulevard last year, with limited ticketed admission that proved difficult to obtain for many fans and potential revelers. However, the space has proven so popular that the owners have decided to keep the galactic watering hole as a permanent fixture. “A lot of you felt at home here and your voice was loud and clear – WE ARE STAYING! Starting Friday August 4th at 6pm, we’re removing the need for tickets and reservations to enter the bar and will be keeping regular bar hours!” reads a post on the bar’s Facebook page.
The venue features Star Wars-themed cocktails like the “I’ve Got a Bad Feeling About This,” which appropriately contains tequila. There’s also Star Wars-esque decor, Star Wars music (you’re pretty much guaranteed to hear the Mos Eisley Cantina song), and Star Wars costumes are encouraged among guests. With the permanent opening, though, it sounds as if the bar is looking to cast a wider net over all of geekdom — not just Star Wars fans.
“We’re making some changes to the menu, the music (you’ll have access to a digital juke box filled with your favorite galactic and geeky tunes), and weekly offerings (trivia, bingo, cosplay specials) to become your local hive of movie, tv, and comics pop-culture,” reads the Facebook post.
No word on whether or not anyone has lost an arm yet at the bar.
