When the pilot for Amazon’s revival of alt-superhero The Tick streamed last year, many fans were too busy getting freaked out by his weirdly organic and veiny costume to actually enjoy the edgy humor. Luckily, it didn’t have too much of an impact on the pilot’s reception, and the streaming platform soon gave the show a full series order.
Flash forward a few months, and a new trailer for The Tick has been released, revealing that the showrunners took the criticism of the suit’s design on board, adjusting it for a far more conventional approach. As well as a more traditional suit, the trailer also showcases all the things we’ve come to love about this brilliantly weird superhero property: dry wit, odd looking villains, and an abundance of manly affection. The Tick is released on Amazon Prime on August 25th, but before that, it’ll be making a big splash at San Diego Comic-Con next week. We’ll be sure to bring you all things Tick over the course of the week, so make sure you stay tuned.
