A sequel to the ridiculous (and weirdly enjoyable) sci-fi movie Iron Sky is coming, and it promises to raise the stakes on its predecessor in just about every single way. But, how exactly do you raise the stakes on a movie that gave us space Nazis invading Earth from the dark side of the moon? Iron Sky: The Coming Race’s answer to that question appears to be a simple one: continue the space Nazi theme, but throw some dinosaurs into the mix for good measure.
Twenty years after the events of Iron Sky, the former Nazi Moonbase has become the last refuge of mankind. Earth was devastated by a nuclear war but buried deep under the wasteland lies a power that could save the last of humanity – or destroy it once and for all. The truth behind the creation of mankind will be revealed when an old enemy leads our heroes on an adventure into the Hollow Earth. To save humanity they must fight the Vril, an ancient shapeshifting reptilian race, and their army of dinosaurs.
Fans of the first Iron Sky movie have been waiting for this sequel for some time now (it was first teased back in 2014), and the release of the first trailer for The Coming Race is being met with a decent amount of optimism. The reason for that optimism? Well, not only does it feature more of those Nazi flying saucers from the first movie, but it ends with a pièce de résistance of a reptilian Hitler riding into battle on the back of what appears to be a T-Rex. Yes, this is exactly as mad as it sounds….
Iron Sky: The Coming Race is released in select theaters and VOD on February 14th, 2018.
