It’s April Fool’s Day, which means it’s the one time of the year when the most idiotic among us are honored and celebrated. OK, that’s not exactly the purpose of April Fool’s Day, but for the purposes of this piece, it is. I’m taking a look at where some of the dumbest characters ever to appear in science fiction rank when it comes to their stupidity, so take a look below and see if your favorite classic nitwit made the cut.
12. Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park
I get that he was greedy, but what made this guy think he could just sneak past a bunch of hungry dinosaurs with no protection?
11. Ruby Rhod in The Fifth Element
In the future, you definitely don’t have to be bright to be a celebrity… actually, that’s always been the case.
10. Russell Casse in Independence Day
He ends up a hero and is proven to not be as crazy as everyone thinks, but this guy is still several cards short of a full deck.
9. Louis Tully in Ghostbusters
Would you trust a guy who routinely locks himself out of his own apartment to do your taxes?
8. Mars Airport Security in Total Recall
It took way too long for these guys to figure out there was something suspicious about Arnold’s giant lady disguise.
7. Street Punks in Terminator
Hey, if you see a giant, hulking nude man in the street in the middle of the night, maybe assume that he’s not a well-balanced person and don’t make fun of him. Just a suggestion.
6. Elliot Moore in The Happening
Poor Mark Wahlberg just can’t figure out that it’s the plants! The plants are what’s trying to kill you!
5. Everyone But Joe Bauers in Idiocracy
It’s pretty bad when a below-average Joe is the smartest man in the world.
4. Arnold in Troll 2
An expert in deduction.
3. Clumsy Stormtrooper in Star Wars
You had one job.
2. Kevin Beckman in Ghostbusters (2016 reboot)
Kevin is so dumb I literally question how he makes it through each day.
1. Biff Tannen in Back to the Future
Now why don’t you make like a tree, and get outta here.
