Amanda Tapping Just Got a New Sci-Fi TV Role

Thanks to her work on Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Sanctuary, Amanda Tapping has rightly been labeled by many as an icon of Sci-Fi TV. From Samantha Carter to Helen Magnus, and even Naomi on Supernatural, Tapping has given us some truly memorable genre characters throughout her career. Now, it would seem, there’s a chance we could get one more because the English-Canadian actor has just secured her latest sci-fi role.

According to THR, Tapping is set for a guest appearance on Netflix’s Sci-Fi series Travelers, joining stars Eric McCormack and Mackenzie Porter for the show’s second season. As well as Tapping, Continuum’s Stephen Lobo has also joined to bolster the time-travel drama’s ranks. But that’s not where Tapping’s involvement ends….

This might just be a guest-appearance, but as many of Tapping’s fans will know, acting isn’t her only forte. Tapping has developed a strong reputation as a director, helming numerous episodes across multiple shows including Stargate SG-1, Supernatural, Continuum, and Dark Matter. After directing an episode of the show’s first season, Tapping will direct multiple episodes of Travelers season 2, meaning we will have the pleasure of her skills both behind and in front of the camera.

Watch vintage Amanda Tapping in Stargate SG-1 with two back-to-back episodes Monday-Thursday at 8/7c.
