We’ve known for some time now that a rebooted version of Mystery Science Theater 3000 was heading to Netflix, we just didn’t know when. Now we do, and it’s coming way sooner than we could have hoped.
The new version of the cult classic series will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday, April 14, meaning there isn’t too long of a wait before we get to see what’s happening on the Satellite of Love these days. The new incarnation, which was crowd-funded, features an all-new cast that is quite impressive. ‘Bots Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo are back, but with new voices courtesy of comics Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn. Jonah Ray of the Nerdist podcast fame is the new host, while geek culture legend Felicia Day is the villainous Kinga Forrester, Clayton Forrestor’s daughter. And perhaps most impressive is the incomparable Patton Oswalt, who is playing Kinga’s henchman, TV’s Son of TV’s Frank.

And while the new additions are exciting, traditionalists shouldn’t be too worried, either. The show is still being run by original creator and star Joel Hodgson, while former stars Mary Jo Pehl, Bill Corbett, and Kevin Murphy will all make cameos. Time will tell if the reboot lives up to the original, but we should all definitely be excited that MST3K is back.
