If you ask just about any Star Wars fan what they want most from their beloved franchise, it’s highly likely that they’ll ask for anything to do with legendary Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi. While many of us dream about the possibility of an Obi-Wan spin-off movie (if Han Solo can get one, surely Mr. Kenobi can), LucasFilm have remained tight-lipped on such a prospect.
However, one area that has often been touted as having the potential to scratch our Obi-Wan itch is Disney XD’s animated show, Star Wars Rebels. Set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, Rebels has already given us a glimpse at a host of famous Star Wars faces, including Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, and even a very brief cameo from Kenobi himself. But, in the show’s mid-season trailer, we get to see Kenobi the way we’ve always wanted….facing off with his old nemesis, Darth Maul.
Kenobi’s previous appearance in Rebels was as the younger, Ewan McGregor iteration from the prequel trilogy. However now it looks as though Rebels will finally give us another glimpse at the Alec Guinness version we all fell in love with during the original trilogy, and we really couldn’t be more excited!
