The journey to getting a second Pacific Rim movie has not been an easy one. Since Guillermo del Toro first gave us the world of Jaegers vs Kaiju, fans have been on a rollercoaster ride of promises, pushbacks, cancellations, and revivals. But, at San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, we finally got some relief thanks to the unveiling of Pacific Rim: Uprising’s first teaser trailer.
Though it doesn’t feature any real footage from the movie, the Comic-Con teaser does give us a sense of what’s in store. With much of Earth being left devastated by the events of the first movie, it looks like there’s been a serious uptick in the defense budget, with a slew of new Jaeger defenders being created by the Pan Pacific Defense Corps. This new teaser acts as a recruitment video to potential Jaeger pilots, featuring John Boyega as Jake Pentecost, the son of the first movies hero Stacker Pentecost.
